Rainy day in Washington

Rainy day today, but we're getting better at the buses, metro, etc. We went to the Air and Space Museum and then went to the National Art Gallery. Admission is free, which seems to surprise folk around here.

Washington monuments day!

We got a bus at 16th Street and went to see the cherry blossoms and the monuments. Lots and lots of walking since you end up in a very wide open place. I got emotional reading the speeches at the Lincoln memorial (what?). We finally got some food. Food here is brilliant compared to Scotland. I mean, cheap food. But it's hot here today. Freezing three weeks ago and hot today. What kind of country is this?

The Mennonites have got us now!

My little Chinese friend has booked us into a guest house run by Mennonites. They gather for tea and cookies at nine at night, and you have to be in bed at eleven. But the room has two single beds and enough room to swing a cat. So far so good.

Extra time!

We got the days wrong, so we didn't try to see Obama today, but spent another day in New York, going to the UN again, and back to Central Park. I love the park!! I meditated there, stood on my head and did a tai chi set. Nobody is going to bat an eyelid in Central Park.

View from the Bridge

We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge today and you could see where Arthur Miller set his play. My Chinese friend has never heard of Arthur Miller. We had a great meal in a restaurant in Brooklyn, and then checked out Greenwich Village and around there. Then we went to the United Nations building and thankfully the visitors section was closed, so I could come back here and post the photies before having a wee lie down. This is our last night in New York. We're going to visit President Obama tomorrow. I hope he's out.

New York Museum

I loved going round the modern art section of the New York Museum this afternoon. Fantastic art and I could have spent a lot longer there. Lots of artists I'd never heard of. The Empire State Building is just down the road from where I'm staying, but I have been told it costs over $200 to go to the observation area. Well, I don't think so somehow. Tomorrow is our last full day here. Might go to the library, which is in the bottom photie, or just stroll up 5th Avenue. The weather is supposed to turn sunny tomorrow. It's been cloudy and cold, but it's only really rained hard once since we got here.
